ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico Supreme Court has upheld the conviction in a deadly homecoming party shooting nearly six years ago. Izaiah Garcia received a life sentence after a jury found him guilty of shooting and killing 17-year-old Sean Markey outside a home near Eubank Blvd. and Montgomery Blvd. in September 2019.
Garcia challenged his conviction, arguing the evidence was not sufficient to prove he was the killer, and the court should have allowed a change of venue. The New Mexico Supreme Court disagreed on both counts.
