SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood after being struck by a vehicle at an intersection, according to the San Diego Police Department.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision occurred around 2:40 p.m. in the 4800 block of El Cajon Boulevard near Estrella Avenue.
A 32-year-old man was riding a black 2013 Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle eastbound in the left lane of El Cajon Boulevard. At the same time, a 76-year-old woman driving a white 2013 Hyundai Sonata was stopped at a stop sign on northbound Estrella Avenue.
After waiting for a break in traffic, the woman reportedly cleared the eastbound right lane but failed to see the oncoming motorcycle as she pulled into the intersection. She struck the motorcyclist in a broadside collision, police said.
The woman was not injured, but the motorcycle rider sustained a pelvic fracture and a head injury. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released.
Police confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The SDPD’s Traffic Division is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
