Ángeles Béjar, the mother of the suspended president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales, declared this Monday a hunger strike as a form of protest before the “hunt” that is taking place against his son.
As reported by EFE, the woman locked herself up this Monday morning in the Divina Pastora church in Motril, a city located in Granada, in the Andalusia region, in southern Spain, declaring herself on a hunger strike until the issue is resolved. “inhumane and bloody hunting that they are doing with my son with something he does not deserve.”
Béjar will be on hunger strike “indefinitely, day and night” until the Rubiales situation is clarified and, according to what he told EFE, in the kiss that his son gave to the soccer player Jenni Hermoso there was no sexual abuse “since there was consent on both sides, as shown in the images.”
On the other hand, the mother of Luis Rubiales asked Jenni Hermoso to “tell the truth” and “maintain the version you had at the beginning of the events”.
Béjar questions “why are they being cruel to him” and about what “is behind all this story”since he defends that his son “is incapable of harming anyone.”
Last Friday, August 25, Rubiales “added more fuel to the fire” by not resigning from his position in the RFEF General Assembly, a situation that motivated FIFA to suspend him from all soccer-related activities for 90 days.
Rubiales remains in the eye of the hurricane after kissing Jenni Hermoso on the mouth at the 2023 Women’s Soccer World Cup award ceremony in Australia and New Zealand, where the Spanish team managed to lift the cup after beating the England team by the slightest difference in the final of the tournament.
