Report for America has selected MinnPost to host a reporter focused on drinking water in Minnesota in partnership with the Mississippi River Basin Ag and Water Desk. The corps member will be with MinnPost for two years with the potential to renew for a third year.
A range of threats — PFAS, agricultural runoff, lead pipes, climate change — are affecting drinking water sources in Minnesota. As the Mississippi River headwaters state, how well Minnesota manages its vast water resources has health consequences for millions of people within the state and downstream. The drinking water reporter will investigate threats, uncover creative solutions and explain what it takes to ensure access to clean, safe drinking water now and in the future.
The Report for America application is open now through Feb. 16. Interested journalists are encouraged to read the FAQs and must apply online. Report for America is hosting information sessions on Jan. 28 and Feb. 4.
The salary for this position is $66,837-$72,142, based on experience. This is union position that comes with full benefits, including subsidized health insurance, generous paid time off and a 401(k) or student loan payment match.
