FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Springfield Environmental Services and the Missouri Water Environment Association invite the public to a special screening of “Our Blue World,” followed by a community discussion, from 7–9 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Moxie Cinema (305 S. Campbell Ave., Suite 101). Due to high interest in the initial screening, Springfield Environmental Services is hosting a second showing of “Our Blue World” as part of the EnviroFlick film series.
The movie is free to attend and includes complimentary popcorn and a beverage, courtesy of the Missouri Water Environment Association. Seating is limited and attendees are encouraged to reserve a free ticket in advance to guarantee a seat.
“Our Blue World” takes viewers on a journey across the globe to show how people are working to protect and restore water systems. From communities facing drought and flooding to new technologies that support cleaner water, the film highlights the challenges we face as well as the practical solutions being put into action. By weaving together science, innovation and cultural perspectives, it emphasizes both our deep connection to water and our shared responsibility to care for it.
Following the film, a panel discussion will feature Mike Kromrey, Executive Director of the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks and Brent Stock, Executive Director of the James River Basin Partnership. Together, they will help connect the film’s global stories to local water challenges and solutions in southwest Missouri.
“Water connects us all and this film provides a chance to reflect on its importance here in Springfield and beyond,” said Laurie Davis, Environmental Services Outreach and Education Coordinator. “We hope the conversation that follows inspires people to think about how they interact with water every day.”
The film is appropriate for individuals 16 and older. Learn more and watch the trailer at https://youtu.be/DP6ueBOv5hc?si=mOeeileEjdNHglES.
