GREENVILLE, S.C. — Maj. Gen. (Ret.) James E. Livingston, a Medal of Honor recipient and one of the most decorated Marines in U.S. history, endorsed Lt. Governor Pamela Evette in her campaign for governor on Tuesday, July 22.
“She’s an exceptional business lady, and she’s proven that fact based on her business experience,” said Livingston. “She’ll be a real tribute to this state and bring great leadership and great vision to the people of South Carolina.”
A combat veteran of the Vietnam War and a former commander of the Marine Forces Reserve, Livingston earned the nation’s highest military honor for his remarkable heroism during the Battle of Dai Do, where he led bold efforts under intense enemy fire and continued to fight and direct his Marines despite being wounded. Throughout a 33-year career, he rose to command the Marine Forces Reserve and earned a national reputation for his valor and leadership.
“Maj. Gen. Livingston is a true American hero, and earning his trust and endorsement is a tremendous honor in my life and in my service to South Carolina,” said Evette. “He represents the very best of our nation – courage, conviction, and a sense of duty. I’m humbled to have his support as we work to bring that same kind of conviction and leadership to the Governor’s Office to keep South Carolina strong, safe, and free.”
