ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) is calling for the public’s help in their investigation surrounding a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman.
According to SLMPD, officials were alerted to reports of a car that struck a woman around 1:00 a.m. in the 2500 block of North Grand on Aug. 16 in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood.
Officers reported that the suspected driver abandoned his vehicle, an Infinity QX70, at a nearby gas station in the 3700 block of North Grand and fled the scene on foot.
When first responders arrived at the scene in the 2500 block of N. Grand, they located the victim, who was later identified as Tori Dunn of St. Louis. EMS transported Dunn to the hospital, but she passed away from her injuries.
Detectives from SLMPD’s investigation revealed that the alleged suspect fatally struck Dunn while she was walking across the street. Since the fatal hit-and-run, no arrest has been made, as police are working to identify the individual allegedly responsible for the incident.
Surveillance footage, however, captured the suspect as he began fleeing the area. SLMPD described the suspect as a Black male with a thin build. At the time of the incident, he also had short hair and a full beard.
The man was also wearing a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt with a large red and white decal on the back and Jordans.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
