LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — A man’s body was discovered in the living room of a Leander home Thursday night after a fire, police said.
Police officers and fire crews responded to the 2200 block of Hilltop Climb Drive in the Bluffs at Crystal Falls neighborhood just before 9 p.m. Initially, Leander police said there was a large police and fire department presence due to an explosion at a nearby residence.
Surrounding homes were evacuated “as a precaution,” but in an update Thursday night, police said there was no danger to the public, and residents were cleared to return to their homes.
Around 11:30 p.m., police told KXAN there was no explosion, but there was a fire inside the home. The fire was out by the time officers arrived and that’s when they discovered a man’s body inside the living room.
Leander police said there is no danger to the public.
The cause of death is still under investigation.
