NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) — A man was charged with driving under the influence and allegedly having a pistol on Thursday in Norwalk, police said.
Kirk Thomas, 29, of Bridgeport, was charged with carrying a firearm under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to obey traffic control signals, and smoking/ otherwise inhaling or ingesting cannabis while operating a motor vehicle and another similar charge.
According to police, an officer was monitoring traffic around 7:36 a.m. when they saw a black Tesla fail to stop at a red light at the intersection of East Avenue and Hendricks Avenue and continue onto the Interstate 95 Southbound onramp.
Police said during the traffic stop, they noticed the suspect was allegedly driving under the influence, smoking cannabis while driving, and had a Glock pistol.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 26.
