A West Garfield Park man has been charged in a fatal Riverdale shooting that took place last month, according to Chicago police.
John Perteet, 38, faces one count of first-degree murder, police said. Perteet was arrested Wednesday afternoon near his home.
Perteet is accused of shooting Prince Johnson several times around 9:40 p.m. in the 13200 block of South Langley Avenue July 11, where Chicago police officers found Johnson around 9:40 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Perteet appeared in court Saturday and was ordered held pending trial.
