A man has been arrested in Mexico in connection with the murder of a man who went missing from Hialeah last year and whose body was later found in a recycling bin, authorities said.
Alfredo Carballo Gonzalez was taken into custody on Tuesday by Mexican authorities and extradited back to South Florida, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said Thursday.
The 32-year-old faces charges of second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence in the August 2025 disappearance of Daylon Fleitas Gonzalez.
A second suspect, 27-year-old Ariely Alvarez Cabrera, Carballo Gonzalez’s girlfriend, was also arrested in Mexico back in September and extradited to South Florida.

Authorities sought the public’s help in finding the couple after Fleitas disappeared on Aug. 3. According to investigators, Fleitas met with Gonzalez on that day in the area of 95th Avenue and Northwest 106th Street.
Carballo Gonzalez was seen entering Fleitas Gonzalez’s truck, where an altercation took place, investigators said. Shortly after, Carballo Gonzalez placed a recycling bin in the bed of the Fleitas’ truck and drove it away, with Cabrera following him in another vehicle.
On Aug. 8, detectives found Fleitas’ truck along with “multiple items of evidentiary value.” Detectives searched the area nearby and found the recycling bin with Fleitas’ body inside.
