An 18-year-old man facing several charges after a car was stolen in Coral Gables and then abandoned in Coconut Grove appeared before a judge on Sunday.
Larry Youte was charged with grand theft vehicle, burglary of an occupied dwelling, and fleeing and eluding police.

During his court appearance, a judge set Youte’s bond at $600.
According to Coral Gables Police, the incident began on Friday with the theft of a Cadillac Escalade SUV in the 6100 block of Mall Street, but Youte and another suspect bailed out of the vehicle on New York Street and Shipping Avenue.
Surveillance video showed the Escalade fleeing and crashing into a tree before the suspects ran out and were followed by officers.

Footage from the scene showed the Escalade crashing into a tree and being damaged at the bail-out scene.
A heavy law enforcement presence was then seen as officers from Coral Gables, Miami, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office joined in the effort..
Authorities closed several roads in that area as they searched for the suspects.
A K-9 was used to find the two suspects, and they were taken into custody.
The second suspect was identified as a juvenile.
Police said there was a third suspect in a white BMW that was found abandoned near the area of the incident. It’s unknown who the BMW belongs to and police didn’t have a description of the third suspect.
During the incident, Mater Grove Academy was placed under a partial lockdown.
School officials described the activity to parents as an “ongoing chase in the Coconut Grove area. Please know everything is fine on campus.”
The lockdown was later lifted, Miami-Dade County Public Schools said.
Officers also set up a perimeter around the area of George Washington Carver Middle School, and a police helicopter was seen circling the scene.
