Luke Combs had quite an eventful time when he visited Chicago during Lollapalooza.
On top of a headlining performance at the four-day music festival, the country music star stopped by a popular tourist attraction, Skydeck Chicago toward the top of the Willis Tower. Combs got close and took a photo outside the glass, but never actually stepped out onto the ledge itself.
“I would much rather like have an encounter with a grizzly bear,” he said in a video posted on social media.
Visiting Willis Tower wasn’t the only item Combs checked off his Chicago bucket list.
He posed for a photo with a classic Chicago beverage: Malört.
Combs cozied right up to a bottle of Jeppson’s Malört, as shown in the 14th photo of the above Instagram post.
Malört is inherently divisive; Chicagoans either love it or despise it.
The liqueur was the brain-child of Carl Jeppson, who brought the recipe over from his native Sweden. The traditional beverage was first produced in the 1930’s, and after many decades of being an under-the-radar concoction it exploded onto the scene in the early 2010s, according to the company’s website.
Most people loath Malört’s aftertaste, while some do appreciate its abrupt and bitter flavor.
