Atlanta public relations professionals will have exactly one minute to convince local journalists their stories deserve coverage during an upcoming pitch event at Georgia Public Broadcasting on September 15.
The “60 Second Pitch Fest,” organized by Leff’s Atlanta Media, brings together eight journalists from various media outlets to evaluate rapid-fire story pitches from audience members. Participants must rely solely on their verbal presentation skills—no PowerPoint presentations, videos or props are permitted during the one-minute pitches.

The journalist panel includes representatives from both traditional and digital media: Luis Estrada from Telemundo, Steve Gehlbach from WSB TV, Cheryl Preheim from 11Alive, Dean Anason from the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Marylynn Ryan from GPB, AR Shaw from the Atlanta Daily World, freelance writer Katja Ridderbusch, and Dan Whisenhunt from Appen Media’s Decaturish.
The event aims to give PR professionals insight into how journalists evaluate potential stories while providing reporters with new story ideas for their newsrooms. The program begins at 6 p.m. at GPB’s headquarters at 260 14th Street NW.
