SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Protests have been planned around the nation following President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard and the Marines in the Los Angeles U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid.
A group called “No Kings” has planned numerous protests around the US.
Per the group’s website, “In America, we don’t do kings.” The protest is said to be a response to the president’s authoritarian actions.
Saturday is Flag Day, and coincidentally, Donald Trump’s birthday. The group stated, “The flag doesn’t belong to President Trump. It belongs to us. We’re not watching history happen. We’re making it.”
“They’ve defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services,” the group continued. “The corruption has gone too. far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings.”
The website notified protestors that the demonstration in Northeast Minneapolis has been cancelled due to a shelter-in-place order following the shooting of two elected officials.
