Loca Luna, the nearly 30-year-old bistro at 3519 Old Cantrell Road in Little Rock’s Riverdale neighborhood, will be temporarily closing beginning Monday, Sept. 8, to undergo “some exciting upgrades,” the group behind the eatery says.
A press release from the Remolinos Group says menus will be updated and “we’ll be working on refreshing the entire restaurant.”
The group is also planning an all-new bar concept inside the restaurant, described in the release as “a place with its own unique style and atmosphere that we can’t wait to share.”
Last August, the Arkansas Times broke the news that legendary chef and Loca Luna founder Mark Abernathy was retiring and selling both Loca Luna and its sister restaurant, Red Door, to the Remolinos Group, the entity behind Sterling Market and Fidel & Co. On April 1, Red Door temporarily closed to undergo “an extensive renovation project.” Red Door is expected to reopen in early 2026.
The target date for Loca Luna’s reopening is late November, the release says.
“Our goal is to create inviting spaces built around thoughtful, flavorful dishes. And these updates will make that experience even better — comfortable, inviting, and full of new ways to enjoy great food and company,” Fidel Samour, president of Remolinos Group, said.
