FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Birthplace of Route 66 Festival returns to downtown Springfield on Aug. 8–9, bringing live music, parades, car and motorcycle shows, exhibits, food and shopping to thousands of visitors.
The two-day celebration of the Mother Road draws more than 65,000 people each year. Organizers are seeking more than 100 volunteers to help make the event a success.
Volunteer roles include staffing information and merchandise tents, assisting with classic car parade and show registration, and supporting activities in the Motorcycle Village and entertainment areas.
“We rely on community volunteers to create a welcoming experience for tens of thousands of guests,” said Cora Scott, event director. “It’s a fun way to be part of one of Springfield’s signature events.”
Volunteers will receive a festival T-shirt, a Discovery Center pass and $5 in Hold Fast Beer Bucks. To sign up, visit www.route66festivalsgf.com and click “Volunteer.”
