Major League Baseball made official on Friday what had been expected for months and known for weeks: The 2027 All-Star Game is coming to Wrigley Field.
It will be the first time Wrigley Field has hosted an MLB All-Star Game since 1990. The joint announcement, along with the Cubs and local elected officials, was made on the field Friday morning.
Safety was the main concern that kept the Cubs out of the rotation in recent years. But in June, the Chicago City Council passed an ordinance to enhance security measures around Wrigley Field.
The rest of the details had been finalized by last week, and Friday was set as the announcement date.
