An investigation was continuing Tuesday into why a barge struck a sailboat in Biscayne Bay near Miami, leaving two girls from a sailing camp dead and two others critically injured.
Six people including five girls and a 19-year-old woman were on the sailboat when it was struck near Hibiscus Island Monday morning, officials with the U.S. Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
Surveillance video showed the barge slamming into the sailboat on the water.

All six who were on the sailboat were thrown into the water when it was hit, triggering a massive rescue effort.
All six were rescued from the water but two of the children, a 7-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl, were pronounced dead when they arrived at a local hospital, officials said.
An 8-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl were critically injured, while a 12-year-old girl and the 19-year-old woman survived.
The names of those involved haven’t been released. The group on the sailboat was part of a Miami Youth Sailing Foundation summer camp, according to the Miami Yacht Club.
The organization is known for teaching children and adults the fundamentals of sailing.
The Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are investigating the incident.
