The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management (DWM) is repairing a 16-inch water main that was damaged in a car accident Saturday morning along Peachtree Road in Buckhead.
The incident has caused water outages and road closures in the area of 2099 Peachtree Road.
In a press release sent at 11 a.m., DWM said two northbound lanes of Peachtree Road are temporarily closed to protect both work crews and the public. Motorists should exercise caution and consider taking alternative routes due to traffic congestion, according to the press release.
DWM said there is no estimated completion time, but updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
This is the second major break that crews have responded to in the last 24 hours. A water main break along Northside Drive on Friday required replacement of a 16-inch waterline, and a boil water advisory remains in place along the corridor.
