WWE taped the July 4 episode of SmackDown on Monday at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA after Raw went off the air.
Friday’s episode will be the return to the weekly two-hour format.

-Cody Rhodes came out to kick off the show, but was interrupted by Randy Orton, who admitted that he was hesitant in nailing Cody with the punt kick at Night of Champions. Rhodes then said that he promises to take out John Cena Cena at SummerSlam. Drew McIntyre then interrupted Orton and Cody and tried to turn them against one another. Orton laid out McIntyre to end the segment.
Backstage segment with Nick Aldis convincing Charlotte Flair to team up with Alexa Bliss against the Secret Hervice for a spot in the four-way Women’s Tag Team title match at Evolution 2. Aldis also set up a tag match later for later in the show with Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso against two members of Solo Sikoa’s group.
-A backstage segment between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton set up an official match for Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta on July 12
-Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defeated Secret Hervice to qualify for the four-way Women’s Tag Team title match at Evolution 2
-Nick Aldis was backstage with the SmackDown tag team division. One member of each of the four teams teamed up to take on the Wyatt Sicks
-Wyatt Sicks defeated Johnny Gargano, Berto, Montez Ford, and Chris Sabin
-WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton came out to talk about her match with Jade Cargill at SummerSlam. However, she said that she wants to defend the title at Evolution 2. Cargill then came out and interrupted Stratton, who then revealed she wants to defend the title against WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Stratus came out exchanging words with Stratton to set up the match.
-Andrade and Rey Fenix defeated Fraxiom
-Backstage segment with Damian Priest attempting to explain R-Truth’s actions to Aleister Black, leading to a match between Black and Truth for July 11. Tension continued to build between Black and Priest
-Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso defeated Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo
