LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Following the departure of longtime tight ends coach Vince Marrow, Kentucky has promoted Derek Shay to fill the role. Shay spent last season as the Wildcats’ senior offensive analyst and run game specialist.
Head coach Mark Stoops backed the move, pointing to Shay’s experience and how well he already knows new offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan’s system.
“We are fortunate to have someone already on our staff who has coached tight ends at a high level,” Stoops said. “His versatility, football IQ, and toughness will be a valuable addition to our offense.”
