FERGUSON, Mo. – City officials say their efforts to remove debris from a Ferguson home infested with raccoons have been delayed.
Neighbors of the home in question spoke to FOX 2, expressing their frustration with city officials’ lack of assistance to their concerns.
“No one’s done anything to help me get this situation taken care of,” Ferguson resident Robin Jackson said previously.
The city of Ferguson released a statement to FOX 2, saying that it was aware of the home’s condition and the resident’s concerns. The city received its first complaint about the Ferguson home last year in December.
“The City remained committed to resolving the issue, and a team had already been assigned to begin cleanup. Given additional concerns expressed by nearby residents, the City has escalated this case further,” wrote John Hampton, City Manager/Fire Chief, who released a statement to FOX 2 on July 9.
The cleanup initially was scheduled to take place on Thursday at the home at 7:30 a.m., according to the city of Ferguson. Now, city officials are citing safety concerns, which halted their decision.
The city says it now plans to use a wildlife removal company that can set up traps and safely remove the raccoons that are inhabiting the residence.
Ferguson anticipates this removal operation to occur next Monday, July 14.
