It’s only been a week since the SummerSlam 2025 PLE, and WWE’s next event, Clash in Paris, is already heating up. John Cena, who is on his WWE retirement tour, is set for action at the event. His opponent was revealed on this past Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown in Montreal, and no, it’s not Brock Lesnar, but Logan Paul.
During this week’s episode of SmackDown, Logan Paul issued a challenge to John Cena for Clash in Paris, but before Cena answered, he was attacked by Drew McIntyre. Cena’s SummerSlam opponent and the new WWE Undisputed Champion, Cody Rhodes, ran in and saved him. Cena then got the chance to get back on the mic and accept Paul’s challenge.
Before all of that happened, Cena was out in the ring to address the return of Brock Lesnar. After losing at SummerSlam, Cena was attacked by Lesnar. In his promo, Cena spoke about how “Brock now has a John Cena problem” and then added that the whole roster now has a Cena problem, which caused Paul to come out to the ring.
After the attack, it was later revealed that the main event on SmackDown was going to be Cody Rhodes and John Cena versus Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. The match ended in a disqualification due to Paul hitting Cena with a low blow. Post-match was even more chaotic.
The show ended with McIntyre hitting Rhodes with the title belt and sending him to the floor by the announce table. McIntyre then hit a Claymore, and a lying Rhodes went through the base of the table. It wouldn’t be surprising if Rhodes’ opponent for Clash in Paris ended up being McIntyre.
More About Clash In Paris
As of this writing, there are only two confirmed matches — John Cena versus Logan Paul, and WWE Women’s World Champion Naomi will defend the title against Stephanie Vaquer. Vaquer earned her title shot because she won the Battle Royal at the Evolution PLE.
What else could be on the card? Well, one match that could definitely happen is Becky Lynch defending the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella. Nikki returned to this past Monday’s episode of WWE RAW and confronted the champ. It ended with Becky suck-punching Nikki.
The PLE will be taking place at the La Défense Arena in Paris on August 31. It will be available to stream live on Peacock. The main card is scheduled to start around 2 p.m. ET.
