HARVEY, La. (WGNO) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a child in Harvey.
Around 7:40 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, JPSO deputies reported receiving a call from a woman reporting her 3-year-old son was dead.
They responded to an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Manhattan Boulevard where they found the child’s body and mother. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Deputies add that the mother was also found with several lacerations on multiple parts of her body and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
“There have been several indications that the child’s death will be classified as a homicide. The investigation is just beginning, and our detectives will do everything they can to determine the sequence of events that led to the child’s death,” said JPSO deputies.
