WWE Superstar Jacob Fatu recently discussed the physical nature of professional wrestling and recounted an incident where a maneuver involving LA Knight did not go as planned. While professional wrestling involves trained performers executing coordinated moves, the high-impact nature of the activity carries inherent risks. Fatu is known for an explosive, high-flying style that incorporates various aerial maneuvers.
Appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, Fatu was asked if he had ever accidentally caught an opponent with a move “a little too hard.” Fatu immediately recalled a specific moment involving a backflip maneuver executed against LA Knight, though he did not specify when the incident occurred. Fatu and Knight have interacted in various segments and matches on WWE programming since Fatu’s debut on the main roster.
Fatu provided details on the execution of the move and the unintended impact, indicating that during the rotation of the maneuver, his knee made significant contact with Knight’s face rather than the intended impact area. Fatu stated:
“Oh, man. So, I mean, I think I back flipped on knights face before I did, yeah, i Back Flip man, man, man, man, my whole knee came down.”
While acknowledging the mishap, Fatu noted that such incidents are exceptions rather than the norm in his performances. He emphasized his usual accuracy and expressed slight hesitation about revealing the incident publicly.
Fatu said, “Hey, man, we be having good hey, most of the time I’m on point.” He added that “it happens,” before commenting, “I think I did catch Knight, bro. Damn, I probably should have never said that.”
Currently, Jacob Fatu and LA Knight compete on separate WWE brands. Fatu is on SmackDown, where he is engaged in a rivalry with Solo Sikoa and the MFT faction. LA Knight is on the Raw brand and is scheduled to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash in Paris on August 31. Knight will face champion Seth Rollins, CM Punk, and Jey Uso in a Fatal 4-Way match.
