CBS’ hit soap opera Beyond the Gates appears to be taking a break this week.
Beyond the Gates made history when it debuted earlier this year, becoming network television’s first all-Black soap opera. Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Karla Mosley and Daphnee Duplaix star in the hit daytime drama.
The last episode that aired June 27 ended with a major cliffhanger that saw Randy threatening Kenneth with a gun after he attempted to blackmail the Duprees. Fans were understandably disappointed when they tuned in June 30, expecting to see a brand new episode that will continue exploring the Duprees and the investigation, but instead finding a re-run of the Beyond the Gates pilot episode. But the show will be returning with new episodes soon enough.
Fortunately for fans, the series has already been renewed for a second season, so there is definitely more to come. However, it looks like CBS will not be airing new episodes of Beyond the Gates this week.
Here is everything we know so far about what to expect this week on Beyond the Gates.
Is Beyond the Gates airing a new episode today?
No, the CBS soap opera will not be airing new episodes the week of June 30, likely because of the Fourth of July holiday on Friday. The network will instead air the first five episodes of the series this week.
Series creator Michele Val Jean confirmed the news with a post on X in which she said the decision was “above my pay grade.”
“To those asking: preemption-rerun decisions are made way above my pay grade so no insight into that. The good news is the upcoming reruns are premiere week so those of you who missed it can catch up with how it all began,” she wrote.
The week-long break has sparked some backlash amongst fans who noticed that The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless are both still airing new episodes despite the holiday. The decision has sparked some backlash from fans on social media.
Beyond the Gates will return with new episodes beginning Monday, July 7, according to Parade.
