- FutureK to support everyday health needs of riders and their families
- Data, rider input collected to strengthen offering ahead of a national roll out
In a step to enhancing the health, wellbeing, and long-term security of Malaysia’s gig economy workforce, foodpanda Malaysia and Heydoc Health, a digital health startup, have announced the launch of FutureK – an outpatient care pilot programme launched for foodpanda delivery partners and their families to enjoy access to affordable, digital-first outpatient healthcare services, including:
- Unlimited teleconsultations with licensed doctors via the DOC2US platform
- E-prescriptions with medication provided for minor conditions, available via pickup or delivery
- Seamless digital experience that simplifies access to care
“This is not just a healthcare plan. It is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to the people who keep foodpanda moving,” said Shubham Saran Operations Director of foodpanda Malaysia.
“Although they are freelancers, we are focused on supporting their well-being in meaningful ways, through our pandahearts initiative. With Future K, we are taking a bold step forward by offering a healthcare solution that is accessible, affordable, and inclusive as a testament to what we can achieve when innovation meets empathy.”
To ensure comprehensive dual-sided feedback and develop a solution truly tailored to delivery riders, a three month pilot programme will be launched. During this phase, data and rider input will be collected to strengthen the offering ahead of a national roll out. In addition to outpatient care, the programme will also provide digital health education modules focused on preventive care, chronic condition management, and mental wellbeing empowering freelancers with the knowledge and support needed to stay healthy, informed and resilient.
Built upon Heydoc Health’s digital infrastructure, FutureK leverages artificial intelligence, blockchain and smart medication management tools to keep outpatient care efficient and cost-effective. These innovations make it possible to offer affordable care that also supports early intervention, chronic disease prevention, and proactive health management for riders and their families.
Dr Raymond Choy, founder and CEO of Heydoc Health stresses that future K is not just a healthcare plan. “It’s built on a decade of healthtech infrastructure developed by Heydoc and DOC2US. Heydoc Health was founded on the belief that technology should close the healthcare access gap, not widen it.” He added that, “foodpanda’s role in launching this pilot reflects a thoughtful, people-first approach to supporting the freelance community. It shows that when business leaders prioritize the right focus areas, innovation flourishes. We hope to inspire more organizations to follow suit.”
DOC2US Database
With over 3 million e-prescriptions and nearly 1 million users, DOC2US provides deep insights into outpatient care trends, rider health behaviours, and common acute conditions. This allows Future K to deliver the right care packages, streamline teleconsultations, and personalize experiences based on real-world data.
AI-Powered Drug Pricing Engine (enSURE)
The system compares drug prices across providers and helps doctors prescribe cost-effective options within the formulary. This makes the care affordable without compromising quality – especially critical for low-income gig workers.
Blockchain Health Records
Each medical consultation and prescription is securely stored using blockchain. Riders can grant access to doctors or family members easily, ensuring privacy, traceability, and security of sensitive health data.
Smart Medication Management Tools
Future K connects e-prescriptions to nearby pharmacies, checks medication availability in real time, and ensures timely pickup or delivery. It also helps monitor usage patterns to reduce wastage and improve adherence.
Despite Malaysia’s gig economy growth, many gig workers do not have a variety of options for affordable accessible healthcare coverage. Addressing this critical gap Future K has introduced a fixed-fee model that blends capitated care (a subscription based on a monthly fee) with digital-first access, offering riders predictable costs, streamlined support and greater peace of mind.
