Humorist, essayist and consummate personal life-excavator David Sedaris is coming to Robinson Center at 7 p.m. Monday, April 24.
Though he’s the author of a dozen books, many first encountered David Sedaris’s work on “This American Life,” a podcast and public radio program, which is awfully fitting. He’s uncommonly funny and insightful on the page, but something really transcendent happens when you hear him read his essays aloud. His high-pitched, slightly sarcastic voice, always on the edge of incredulity, gives everything he writes the air of rich, petty gossip that you can’t help but be invested in. It’s not all laughs, though. Let your guard down for a minute and you’ll be bombarded with emotional poignancy when he unveils a heavy family secret.
Tickets go on sale to the public 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, and will be available online at celebrityattractions.com, tcketmaster.com, by phone at 501-244-8800 or in person at the Robinson Center box office.
