NORTH CHARLESTON — Police are investigating after two pedestrians were killed in separate vehicle collisions.
Officers with the North Charleston Police Department first responded to Rivers Avenue, near Piggly Wiggly Drive, around 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 5. They discovered that one pedestrian had been fatally struck by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene, according to a statement the department posted to its Crime Watch page.
Hours later, officers responded to the Shell gas station located at 2516 Ashley Phosphate Road around 6:30 a.m., according to another statement from the department. A pedestrian was pronounced dead in the parking lot.
The coroner has not yet publicly identified either driver. Both investigations are active and ongoing.
Police are asking that anyone with information submit an anonymous tip online.
