BOULDER, Colo. (KDVR) — Now that the initial news of the Sundance Film Festival’s move to Colorado has worn off, the question is now on the logistics.
“It was electric yesterday, and I can only imagine what it’s going to be like when Sundance arrives in 2027,” said St. Julien Hotel and Spa General Manager Aaron Coburn. “We’re pretty used to being full at this hotel, and we’re used to high demand weekends; it’s such a great destination… Fills up the town, fills up the restaurants.”
Many Boulder-area and surrounding cities’ hotels report bookings already for the January 2027 festival, as its expected visitors may have to stay in other areas like Broomfield or Denver. Other hotels are keeping their typical 365-day booking window.
“Our booking window for large events can be up to a year, year and a half for large groups. Typically, we release our rooms 365 days in advance for normal booking patterns,” said Coburn. “There will be no shortage of filmmakers, storytellers, creatives and of course, the A-list celebrities to keep us all on our toes.”
Some Boulder residents on Pearl Street Friday were thrilled at the news as well.
“I love it. I am a movie buff, I go to the movies once a week at least, don’t always find what I want but having Sundance here will be great,” said Boulder resident Willy Hereman.
