NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man is dead following a shooting in the Marigny area Thursday morning, Aug. 14.
Around 3:10 a.m., New Orleans Police Department officers were alerted of a medical emergency at the corner of Frenchmen and Decatur streets.
Responding officers arrived to find an unresponsive man lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was declared dead on the scene by EMS and the incident was reclassified as a homicide investigation.
No further details are available at this time. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroners Office will release the victim’s identity after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
