As we move through the week, summer heat and humidity will continue to build, reaching some rather uncomfortable levels by the time we get to the weekend. Highs will be pushing close to 90 degrees, and when you factor in the humidity, it’s going to feel more like the mid-90s — classic August weather.
This morning, we’ll start off with mostly sunny skies and temperatures climbing quickly, reaching near 80 degrees by lunchtime. Winds will be light, offering little relief.
By this afternoon, it’ll begin to feel a bit more like August as high pressure drifts eastward, opening the door for more humidity to surge into the region. Highs will reach the mid-80s, and you’ll start to notice that stickier feel in the air.
Overnight tonight, we won’t see the same kind of cooling we’ve had recently. Under partly cloudy skies, lows will only drop into the mid-60s.
That warming trend continues into Thursday as warmer, more humid air continues to stream in. We’re looking at a high near 86 degrees, and it will start to feel increasingly uncomfortable, especially during the afternoon hours.
By Friday, the heat and humidity begin to ramp up. Highs will climb into the upper 80s, and with ‘tropical’ levels of humidity in place, it will feel significantly warmer. You’ll want to take it easy if you have outdoor plans.
The peak of this August heat wave will hit over the weekend and into early next week. Highs near 90 are expected, but again, it will feel more like the mid-90s when you factor in that oppressive humidity.
As the dome of heat strengthens and expands eastward, not only will conditions stay hot and humid, but rain chances will be suppressed, held well to our west. Our next real shot at meaningful rainfall doesn’t come until Tuesday of next week.
And looking beyond that? Unfortunately, no big break in sight. The heat and humidity look to persist well into the 10-day forecast, with highs remaining in the upper 80s to near 90.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and we’ll keep you updated.
