We’ve kicked off the first full week of August on a comfortable note, but don’t get too used to it. By week’s end, it’s going to feel a whole lot more like late summer around here.
Monday’s highs topped out around 80°, a touch warmer than the weekend, but still very pleasant.
The early morning cools off by about 20° from our Monday afternoon highs with lows dipping into the lower 60s by daybreak. There’s a chance a few isolated thicker pockets of fog may develop during the early morning, but the fog is not expected to become a widespread issue.
Tuesday, the sunshine returns, and the heat increases slightly. Highs reach around 83° in the afternoon. While an increase in humidity is coming this week, the Muggy Meter stays at “Comfortable” on Tuesday.
Air quality will be an issue, again, as wildfire smoke from Canadian fires moves back into the atmosphere and an Air Quality Action Day is in effect. If you have existing breathing problems, are a senior, or a child, you should limit your time outdoors.
Wednesday and Thursday maintain the classic August feel with plenty of sunshine, highs in the mid-80s, and a little bit more humidity – “Humid” on the Muggy Meter.
By Friday and Saturday, it’s all about the summer sizzle with highs in the upper 80s, but when you factor in the humidity (“Tropical” by Saturday), it’s going to feel more like the low 90s.
That heat and humidity stick around into Sunday before a slight chance of showers and a few thunderstorms moves in. Highs will be in the mid-80s. Sunday has a slight rain chance, but the potential is higher on Monday and Tuesday next week than it is on Sunday.
