HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — In just one month the Taylor Swift phenomenon will take over the Circle City.
The pop star’s sold-out Eras Tour is such an attraction that it’s sending ripples across central Indiana.
In Hamilton County, the tourism department had dedicated a whole page of its website to events and businesses focused on celebrating Swift’s three concerts in Indy.
”We wanted to make sure we took advantage of this opportunity and moment to support our local businesses and promote what they’re offering,” said Gabby Blauert with Hamilton County Tourism.
The three sold-out concerts on Nov. 1, 2 and 3 are having ripple effects throughout central Indiana. Hotels in Hamilton County are filling up.
”We’re seeing that especially on the Friday and Saturday nights of those concerts,” Blauert said. “Sunday not as much, but still seeing an elevated rate there, too.”
Tobi Mares, the owner of Goodness Gracious Kitchen & Cupboard in Carmel, is ready to dedicate the entire November week to Taylor Swift.
”I love Taylor,” Mares said. “Who cannot love Taylor?”
Mares said there will be Taylor Swift trivia nights, photo opportunities, friendship bracelets, specialty cocktails, mocktails and themed food items.
”Some items we’ve thoroughly researched somethings that she likes,” Mares said. “We’re going to recreate her favorite sweet potato pancakes.”
Goodness Gracious Kitchen & Cupboard is one of many businesses in Hamilton County hosting themed events. Everything from candles to dance parties is leaning into the Taylor Swift fandom.
The hope is these events will be fun for the fans going to the concerts and those who weren’t lucky enough to get tickets.
”I have two teenage daughters and we did not get tickets, but this is going to be the next best thing,” Mares said.
This is also a big chance for Mares to get more people familiar with her business. The restaurant just opened four months ago.
”We are already getting calls and making reservations,” Mares said, talking about the Taylor Swift weekend.
