Loudoun County invites members of the public to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the start of construction of the Waxpool Road and Faulkner Parkway roundabout, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place near the intersection of Waxpool Road and Faulkner Parkway. Parking is provided in the Broadlands Community Church parking lot at 43673 Catton Place, Ashburn. From the parking lot, attendees can proceed to the groundbreaking area near the road.
This project provides for the construction of a dual-lane roundabout which will improve safety and operations at the intersection. The new roadway configuration will reduce vehicular conflict points, which is anticipated to improve safety at the intersection. It will also improve pedestrian and bicycle connectivity by providing crosswalks.
Northfield Construction and Development, the developer of the Waxpool Crossing housing development located on the northwest quadrant of the Waxpool Road and Ashburn Village Boulevard intersection, is constructing the roundabout.
In conjunction with this project, Loudoun County will be renaming Faulkner Parkway to Broadlands Boulevard. A portion of Shellhorn Road, west of Ashburn Road, will also be renamed Broadlands Boulevard. New signs are expected to be installed by August 1, 2025 (PDF).
