Jack Grealish has accepted Graeme Souness’ offer of a night out… but only if he can bring Paul Pogba as his plus one!

Liverpool legend Souness has gone back and forth with Grealish in recent days having criticised his performances for Manchester City on talkSPORT.

During his regular appearance on the White and Jordan show, Souness described Grealish as a ‘good, but not great’ player and claimed he had not improved since joining City from Aston Villa for £100million.

Grealish responded to those comments while on England duty this week, saying Souness seems to have a problem with him having regularly criticised him.

Souness then came back and defended his views, giving a lengthy explanation for his reasoning, and warned Grealish he had been ‘100 per cent’ right with his views about ex-Manchester United midfielder Pogba.

Souness also urged Grealish to be ‘less precious’, but finished by saying he’d love to have a night out with the 27-year-old.

And Souness’ offer got a thumbs up from Grealish on social media, with a cheeky mention of Pogba too.

Replying to talkSPORT on Twitter, he wrote in response to the offer: “Let’s do it!! As long as I can bring Pogba as a +1.”

It could well be an entertaining night with Gareth Southgate telling talkSPORT on Thursday he would be keen to join too.

“We’d all like a night out with Jack, I wouldn’t mind one with Souey as well, so no problem,” the England boss joked.

Southgate, of course, did give a serious answer to talkSPORT reporter Faye Carruthers’ question on Grealish and his recent contributions.

For a while it seemed like Southgate was the one who lacked a little belief in Grealish after making him wait a long time for his England call-up.

But now admits he loves working with the City star with the national team.

He added: “He’s had a difficult start to the season with a couple of injuries. It was good to see him arriving at the far post at the weekend and get in the box and scoring.

“We know he’s got great creativity. Jack has contributed well for us, we are happy how he is.

“We love working with him, he’s a great kid to have around the camp.

“He’s working at a top club where it’s not easy to get in the team, never mind perform well.

“I don’t know if he will ever find the level Graeme wants!

“We are happy with the contributions for us, but I can’t really talk about club because you are not always 100 per cent certain on what individuals’ roles is and what the requirements are and what they are being asked to do with the ball.

“It’s of course easy to have an opinion from the outside, which I do with the players. I have to dig a bit deeper with the specifics they are being asked to do.”
