A Fryeburg man is accused of shooting a pregnant woman and a relative in Massachusetts.
Anthony Delman, 37, is facing multiple charges related to the shooting of a woman in Carver, Massachusetts, and a male relative in Dennis, Massachusetts, police say.
Both were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Delman used to date the woman and the male relative is his cousin, The Boston Globe reported.
Around 7:35 on Aug. 13, a woman arrived at the Carver police station with what appeared to be a gunshot wound in the leg, the department said in a statement Thursday.
Then at about 9 p.m. the same day, Dennis police responded to a call of a loud noise and a man crying and limping in a parking lot.
“Over the course of the investigation, it was determined that the shooting was intentional and the male party was shot by a relative,” the Dennis police said in a statement.
Detectives in Dennis took Delman into custody around 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 14.
Delman was arraigned in Orleans District Court last week and is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and a firearm violation with two prior violent/drug crimes, Dennis police said.
A warrant has been issued for Delman in relation to the shooting of the woman, Carver police said on Thursday.
“This case was an excellent example of good, solid police work and cooperation between agencies, which has resulted in the arrest of a violent person willing to shoot a pregnant woman,” Carver Police Chief Marc Duphily said in a statement.
Delman remains in custody in connection with the Dennis shooting, Carver police said, and is expected to be arraigned in Wareham District Court at a later date.
Related to the Carver shooting, Delman is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a pregnant victim, possession of a firearm without a firearms identification card, and firearm violation with two prior violent/drug crimes.
