Chelsea are not ‘actively pursuing’ a deal for Alexander Isak despite the forward’s desire to leave Newcastle United.
Chelsea made an approach to sign Isak last summer but were informed the forward was not for sale.
Newcastle remain insistent that Isak is not available this summer, but the Sweden international has informed the club of his wish to explore an exit. Isak has not travelled with Eddie Howe’s squad for their pre-season tour of Asia.
Liverpool are chasing a deal to sign the 25-year-old and have expressed a willingness to pay a British record fee.
🚨💣 Understand Alexander Isak remains a target for Liverpool even after signing Ekitike… but depends on Newcastle.
If Newcastle open doors to an exit and #LFC sell Diaz, they can bid after direct contact made 10 days ago.

Al-Hilal have also been linked with signing the striker as the Saudi side chase a marquee forward.
Despite reports, Chelsea are not preparing to rival the Reds or Al-Hilal for Isak. The West Londoners have signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer and also have Nicolas Jackson as a centre-forward option.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Chelsea are ‘very happy’ with their current pool of strikers.
Chelsea’s current focus is on signing Xavi Simons and Jorrel Hato, with negotiations ongoing over deals for the Dutch internationals.
