CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston Fire Department crews were called to the Renaissance Hotel at 68 Wentworth Street shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday following a report of smoke inside the building.
Firefighters quickly evacuated the hotel and conducted a thorough search but did not locate a fire. As a precaution, some HVAC and electrical systems were shut down while the investigation continues.
No injuries have been reported. Streets near the hotel remain closed while fire apparatus remain on the scene. Officials advise drivers to seek alternate routes until the area is cleared.
