Fanatics Betting and Gaming now has an online sportsbook in Washington, D.C. after striking a partnership with the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). They announced the agreement on Thursday, marking the first time the operator has signed a deal with a women’s professional sports team.
Washington Spirit was a founding member of the NWSL in 2012, and currently sits in second place in the league, behind the Orlando Pride in the standings.
The agreement will see Fanatics advertise around the team’s stadium and run fan experiences like penalty kick competitions and pre-game trivia contests.

Talking about the new partnership, Washington Spirit CEO Kim Stone said it is “another indication of the momentum surrounding the Spirit and women’s sports.”
People in Washington, D.C. can now sign up for a sports betting account with Fanatics and start betting with real money, making it the fifth operator to launch a district-wide platform since the end of the monopoly in July. Fanatics is already live in 22 states.
