Police in a Chicago suburb warned of some “extremely dangerous” behaviors that resulted in multiple arrests after two incidents were reported in one week.
Naperville police wrote on Facebook Wednesday that they “encountered two separate incidents of alleged street racing” within the last week, each of which ended in an arrest.
The first incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday on Route 59 just north of McCoy Drive.
There, police said a Chevy Camaro and a Porsche Cayenne were stopped at a red light before an officer saw them “take off when the light turned green, squealing tires and accelerating rapidly.”
The driver of the Camaro, a 24-year-old from California, was arrested and charged with street racing, police said.
The second incident happened around midnight Monday when a black Infinity was seen apparently racing a motorcycle while traveling southbound on Washington Street from Robin Hill Drive.
The driver of the Infinity was arrested and charged with street racing and speeding more than 35 miles per hour over the speed limit. The 20-year-old from Montgomery was also cited for “other infractions,” police said.
Authorities are still searching for the other drivers involved, the department said.
“These arrests were great catches by our officers, who successfully stopped this extremely dangerous driving behavior before anyone got hurt,” the Naperville Police post read.
