The series will be on line as India take on Australia in the second T20I at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. Australia produced a memorable run chase of 209 in the first game and have taken an early lead in the three-match series. India have had a tough run since the Asia Cup 2022 especially with their bowling resources not being able to deliver consistently, however, one of the positive limelights has been Suryakumar Yadav’s performances over the last one year.

The right-hander has jumped into the top five batters of ICC T20I rankings and has already notched up a century in the format in England. His ability to play the 360-degree shots makes him a special talent and his services will be key to India’s success in the T20 World Cup 2022. Ahead of the second T20I, Suryakumar had a chat with Murali Karthik and was questioned about his journey and favourite batting position.

I enjoy batting when the pressure is high: Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar revealed that his favourite batting position is opening the innings with a chuckle on his face and was pleased with his journey so far in international cricket. He felt that number four is perfect for him to take control of the innings and mentioned that he enjoys handling pressure. He highlighted the importance of shot selection in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

‘It has been an amazing journey. Wonderful ride till now and am working hard for everything. I have enjoyed batting everywhere but number four is perfect for me. It helps me control the game. I enjoy batting when the pressure is high. Most important challenge in Australia would be for us to be smart with our shot selection. Everything else remains the same,” – Suryakumar told the broadcasters in the build-up to the second T20I.

The 32-year-old scored a 25-ball 46 in the first T20I which included two fours and four sixes and will be looking to continue his brilliant form in recent times.
