A wreck between a Hall County Fire engine and a Hoschton man’s car resulted in injuries Tuesday morning.
The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) confirmed that the wreck happened just before 9 a.m. on State Route 347/Friendship Road at Deaton Creek Parkway in southern Hall County.
Officials determined a Kia K5 sedan, driven by 83-year-old Philip Okun of Hoschton, was trying to turn left onto Deaton Creek Parkway.
The Hall County Fire engine, driven by 58-year-old Jeffery Reed of Gainesville, was traveling on the other side of Friendship Road to respond to a call.
As the fire engine approached the intersection, GSP reports that the Kia turned left in front of it. The fire engine was unable to stop and hit the car on the passenger side.
The Kia came to an uncontrolled rest off the roadway. Okun was transported from the scene for injuries and Reed was transported for further medical evaluation.
Okun was also cited for failure to yield while turning left.
