CelcomDigi Berhad has released a short film featuring two world-class Malaysian athletes in a coordinated challenge designed to demonstrate the real-time responsiveness enabled by 5G connectivity. Titled “An Epic Showcase of 5G”, the film brings together Soh Wai Ching, the world’s No. 1 towerrunner, and Qabil Irfan, motorsports rising star and FIM MiniGP World Champion, in a synchronised test where timing determines the outcome.
In the film, Soh—who recently set a Malaysia Book of Records title for the fastest climb up Exchange 106—sprints up 106 floors to hit a buzzer, while Qabil races along a track where a gate narrows continuously. The challenge hinges on whether the buzzer is activated before the gate closes, highlighting how timing, accuracy, and connectivity must work in perfect sync to achieve a single outcome.
According to CelcomDigi, the experience is designed to help viewers feel the difference ultra-fast speed and real-time responsiveness can make—whether in mission-critical actions, remote operations, streaming, gaming, or everyday digital use.
“5G services open new possibilities for how people live, work, and enjoy digital content. This showcase is a simple but powerful way to help Malaysians see what ultra-fast responsiveness looks like in action. Our focus is to deliver the best 5G service experience through great value plans, a wide range of 5G device choices, and seamless internet access locally and abroad with trusted global roaming partners,” said Chan May Ling, head of Brand and Marketing Services.
CelcomDigi said that, as the country’s widest and fastest network, Malaysians already enjoy high-quality 4G coverage, further enhanced by seamless 5G connectivity for faster, improved internet experiences. All 20.5 million customers are provisioned for 5G, supported by device programmes that simplify upgrades, contributing to steady adoption and reinforcing the company’s leadership in next-generation connectivity.
Beyond consumer connectivity, CelcomDigi plays a leading role in Malaysia’s enterprise digital transformation, enabling businesses to adopt 5G-enabled and AI-powered solutions. Enterprises across sectors such as agriculture, logistics, manufacturing, healthcare, and energy are supported with next-generation connectivity, cloud solutions, cybersecurity capabilities, and data-driven technologies that enhance efficiency and unlock new digital opportunities.
These efforts reflect CelcomDigi’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s transition into a 5G-AI digital society, empowering businesses with the digital foundations needed to compete, innovate, and thrive in the country’s expanding digital economy.
