NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide in the Seventh Ward early Monday, Aug. 25.
According to NOPD officers, at 5:30 a.m. they were called to the 1700 Blk of Elysian Fields Avenue on reports of a shooing in the area.
Responding officers arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his body.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
No further details are available at this time. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
