Mary de Wet, the managing editor at American Banker, died Monday at the age of 55 from cancer.
She had been with American Banker since August 2024.
She previously was Americas chief editor for Dow Jones Newswires. De Wet spent more than 24 years at Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal, including a time as assistant managing editor of resources, overseeing a team of metals, energy and agricultural commodities, reporting breaking news in real time on multiple platforms for The Journal. She also was an assistant news editor on the money desk.
She previously worked at the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle and Odessa American in editing roles.
De Wet is a graduate of Louisiana State University.
