Drier weather will be moving into New Mexico, but some monsoon storm chances will continue in parts of the state into this weekend.
After rain wrapped up in this morning in eastern New Mexico, isolated storms began developing early this afternoon across the mountains in the state. These storms moved to the east and brought more heavy rain, flash flooding, and severe weather. Unlike last night, these storms have all ended tonight with drier weather returning to the entire state by Thursday morning. Scattered to isolated storm chances will continue into the end of this week for southern, central, and eastern New Mexico. While storms will be fewer and farther between, any storm will still bring a threat of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Drier weather will move into northwest and northern New Mexico as temperatures will be heating up too.
Even drier air moves into the state this weekend. Isolated afternoon storms will still be possible along and east of the central mountain chain though. These storms could again bring heavy rain and flash flooding. High pressure will develop over the Four Corners this weekend, bringing hotter temperatures statewide.
Monsoon moisture will increase across New Mexico again early next week, bringing back scattered rain chances on Monday. Rain chances will continue to increase into the middle of next week, bringing showers and storms to nearly all of New Mexico.
