(KRON) — A domestic violence suspect was shot and killed by police in Santa Rosa Thursday morning after barricading for several hours overnight, according to authorities.
The Santa Rosa Police Department responded just after 10 p.m. Wednesday to the 900 block of Keegan Drive on the report of an armed person who was involved in domestic violence. After officers arrived on scene, the suspect, a male who has not been identified, barricaded himself inside a residence, according to SRPD Lt. Dan Marincik.
“Officers tried for numerous hours to negotiate and communicate with the suspect without any success,” Marincik said.
Residents of Keegan Drive were advised by police to shelter in place at 11:13 p.m. Wednesday.
At 4:55 a.m. Thursday, police shot the suspect. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities at this time have not released specific details on what prompted police to shoot the suspect.
