SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A world-renowned DJ is stepping out from behind the decks to bring a unique fitness event to San Francisco this fall. Diplo’s Run Club will be returning to the City by the Bay in October.
The event made its Bay Area debut in SF last year along the Embarcadero. This year, after being originally planned for Pier 30 & 32, the 5K race and post-race music experience will take place at Robin Williams Meadow in Golden Gate Park on Oct. 11.
The change of venue, which comes in collaboration with the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, is meant to offer “participants a scenic new route through one of the city’s most beloved landmarks.” Last year, the event drew 15,000 runners and music fans.
Diplo, a three-time Grammy Award winning DJ, will participate in the 5K before dropping a live DJ set for participants in what event-planners call an “unforgettable fitness-meets-festival experience in the heart of San Francisco.”
“Staring Diplo’s Run Club in San Francisco last year was some of the most fun I’ve had in a long time,” said Diplo. “Bringing so many people together to run and celebrate is really all I ever want to do.”
Known as an avid fitness enthusiast, Diplo’s Run Club “merges music and movement in a family-friendly, daytime experience,” the event organizers said. The event will also be in support of local youth organizations in the Bay Area through a partnership with Good Sports and PLUS1.
The race will get underway at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, followed by the finish line festival and live music performance.
